If you’re already British, either through an automatic claim (which will involve evidencing your claim) or with a naturalisation/registration certificate, you can apply for your first British passport.
If your British passport has expired, your renewal may be treated like a first-time application, and you may be asked to prove your claim to British citizenship again.
If you wish to change your name or gender on your British passport, or your appearance has changed, you must apply for a new passport and provide evidence of the change.
